What Is the Kayaking?

The boat as a tool for human production and transportation, has been in existence for tens of thousands of years, and the world’s oldest boat, the primitive man’s canoe, is the ancestor of modern kayaking. Kayaking includes Kayak and Canoe. The original meaning of Kayak is the canoe of the Eskimo, and the Canoe is also a canoe. Therefore, kayaks and canoes are referred to as Canoe in some areas.

Kayaking is a rowing exercise in which a paddler rides a special dinghy and is advanced by one or several paddlers. The bright colors of the kayak make rapid progress on the clear water, giving the athletes a thrill. So far, kayaking has been a history of more than 100 years.

Kayaking was developed from canoes. The Eskimo, the first to use kayak, was made of animal skins and bones. The wood was carefully designed and carved into the original shape of the boat. Later, the “father of modern kayak” Scotsman John McGregor built a 4m long, 75cm wide, 30kg “Nobu Noi” kayak and traveled to England, France, Germany and Sweden, and wrote a book “Nob, No. 1 Lane”, thus actively promoting the kayaking.

In 1867, the Royal Kayaking Club he founded hosted the first kayaking competition, marking the beginning of modern kayaking. Since then, kayaking has gradually emerged. By the end of the 19th century, kayaking had become a sporting activity widely carried out in Europe and the United States. With the extensive development of kayaking, countries have established kayaking clubs.

In January 1924, Denmark, Sweden, France and Austria initiated the establishment of the “International Rowing Representation” in Copenhagen, Denmark, abbreviated as IRK, drafted the charter of the Congress and the first canoe competition rules, stipulated the competition The types of boats include kayaks, rowing boats and windsurfing boats, as well as the distance of the competition.

During the 8th Olympic Games in Paris, France, in 1924, Canadian and American athletes performed rowing exhibitions on the Seine.
In the 11th Olympic Games held in Berlin in 1936, kayaking began to be listed as an official Olympic Games event, with a total of nine competitions. By the 14th Olympic Games, the kayak project has further increased.
